Growing up my dad would make beer bread for special family occasions. To say I loved this bread is putting it lightly. This bread is rich in flavor with a buttery crust. Try it with your favorite soup, stew or roast dinner. We always had this bread with butter and homemade jam.
Thanks to Trader Joes you can make this quick bread with just a couple of ingredients: Trader Joes Beer Bread mix, 12 ounce beer (any flavor/brand) and butter.
Simply follow the box directions by adding 12 ounce beer to dry mix and stir until combined. Mixture will be very lumpy and sticky. (If you prefer not to use beer, you can replace it with Sprite or 7-Up.)
Grease a loaf pan and pour mixture into pan. Add 1/2 cup melted butter to the top of the mixture. Bake according to package.
Here are a couple of mix-in ideas if you want to kick it up a notch.
Cheddar Onion Beer Bread: Add 3/4 cup sharp cheddar cheese and 2 green onions sliced thin
Spicy Cheese Beer Bread: Add 3/4 cup pepper Jack cheese and 1 small can green chilis drained.
